Warning: my attempt to fix a squeaky floor made a much bigger hole
Last month I tried to silence a squeak in my hallway near the bathroom by drilling a screw through the floorboard. Turns out I hit a water pipe right under. I ended up with water spraying out and had to rip up three floorboards to patch the pipe. Cost me $120 for a plumber plus new wood. Has anyone else had a simple fix turn into a plumbing nightmare?

Drilling a screw through the floorboard" - yeah I did something similar but with a nail gun. Was putting up wainscoting in my laundry room. Nailed right through a drain pipe for the washing machine. Had to pull out all the new wood to get to it. Cost me a fortune in drywall repair too cause the wall got soaked. My wife still brings it up every time the floor creaks.

Ngl my buddy did that with a staple gun on a sprinkler line. Not pretty.
