Tried to fix a leaky pipe under my sink at 11 PM last night

I was in my bathroom in Orlando and cranked the wrench too hard, snapping the shutoff valve clean off. Water sprayed everywhere for 5 solid minutes before I figured out where the main shutoff was. Has anyone else had a midnight plumbing disaster spiral out of control that fast?

5 minutes of spraying? My entire bathroom wouldve flooded.
