The hardware store paint I used vs. the name brand stuff. Big mistake.
Painted my deck with the $15 gallon from the bargain rack instead of paying $35 for the good stuff. After one rainstorm, it's peeling off in sheets like dried glue. Has anyone else found a cheaper brand that actually holds up?

Nah, you got the bargain bin special. That stuff is basically just colored water with glue mixed in. Learned that same lesson when I painted my fence last summer. Valspar from Lowe's is decent for the price though, around $25 a gallon and holds up way better than the cheap stuff. Just gotta match the right paint to what you're painting.

Did your friend try that Behr stuff from Home Depot? I had a buddy who thought he was saving money with their cheapest line, and it started peeling off his garage door after just one winter. The worst part was he had to scrape it all off and repaint, which cost him way more time and money than just getting a decent gallon in the first place.
