That time I tried to fix a leaky pipe with duct tape at 2 AM

Last winter my kitchen sink pipe burst at like 2 in the morning during a freeze. I figured I'd be a hero and patch it with duct tape and a plastic grocery bag. Water sprayed everywhere for a solid 10 minutes before I gave up and called a plumber. He showed up, took one look, and just laughed while cutting out the whole section. Cost me $350 plus the emergency call fee because I couldn't wait till morning. Has anyone else attempted a 'temporary fix' that made things way worse?

Used to think duct tape could fix anything. My dad raised me on that stuff, told me it held his muffler on for 6 months once. Then I tried to patch a garden hose with it and it burst off in like 20 seconds, blasted mud all over my new white deck. That was the moment I realized duct tape is for like keeping cords together, not stopping water pressure. Learned the hard way that water always finds the weak spot.

Yeah @jessicamiller you're totally right, I used to swear by duct tape too but a burst pipe humbled me real fast lol
