That $50 drain snake I bought ended up costing me $400

I had a slow kitchen sink last Tuesday and thought I'd be smart about it... bought one of those cheap drum augers from the hardware store for like 50 bucks. Got it stuck halfway down the pipe and snapped the cable trying to pull it back out. Had to call a plumber who charged me $350 to fish out the broken snake and clear the real clog. Has anyone else had a budget tool turn into a pricey mistake?

My buddy Mike did the exact same thing with a toilet auger.

Man, that's rough. Sorry you and your buddy had to deal with that mess @tylerw92. Toilet augers can be a lifesaver, but they definitely leave a mark if you're not careful. I've seen a wet dry vac pulled out for similar situations when things went sideways. Hope you got everything sorted without too much drama.
