My one-shelf pantry shelf ended up holding my entire garage floor
After 3 tries with those plastic brackets from Lowe's, I finally got the shelf level enough to load it with jars, then the whole thing peeled off the drywall at 9 p.m. and dumped 14 pounds of spaghetti sauce everywhere, so has anyone else just switched to a freestanding metal unit that you nailed into studs?

I read somewhere that drywall anchors are basically a scam for anything over 10 pounds unless you hit a stud, and your story proves it. That spaghetti sauce cleanup at 9 p.m. sounds like a nightmare, I would have just cried. Honestly, freestanding metal racks are the way to go, they cost like 40 bucks and you can bolt them into the studs without praying the sheetrock holds. Plus you can move them if you rearrange the garage, which you can't do with a shelf glued to the wall. I say skip the brackets entirely and go buy a decent metal unit, your jars will thank you.
