My bathroom tile job taught me how much thinset you can waste
I was mixing up a bag for my small bathroom floor, thinking I could eyeball it like my dad always did. Found a chart online that said for my 40 square foot area, I only needed about half the 50-pound bag I bought. How do you even store the leftover stuff without it going hard in the bucket?

Forget storing it. That leftover thinset is a brick in twenty minutes. Toss the extra in a heavy trash bag right away. Mixing small batches is the only way to not waste half your money. Charts exist for a reason, your dad was just lucky.
