I found out my paint was 4 years expired and it ruined my whole living room

Pulled a can of paint from the back of my garage for a weekend project. Looked fine. Smelled fine. Started painting my living room accent wall. Halfway through it started peeling right off. Checked the label. Expired February 2020. Looked it up online. Latex paint only lasts 2-3 years if stored bad. Wasted $60 on supplies and spent Sunday scraping. Has anyone else had paint go bad on them like that?

Oh man, that sucks so bad. Same thing happened to me with a half-used can of Behr I thought was fine for touching up my kitchen cabinets. The paint came out all chunky and stringy, and I had to scrub the whole mess off with mineral spirits.

Is it really that big of a deal though? I mean, you scrubbed it off and fixed it, right? Paint goes bad sometimes, it's just how it is. I've had cans of Sherwin Williams go bad on me and I just tossed them and bought a new quart. It's like $15 and 20 minutes of your time to fix it. Seems like more of a minor inconvenience than something to really stress over.
