Am I the only one who thinks YouTube tutorials make DIY harder half the time?

I was trying to fix my kitchen sink last weekend and watched like 4 different videos, each one saying something different about which pipe wrench to use. One guy said the $15 one from Home Depot is fine, another swore you need a $60 rigid brand one or you'll strip the nut. I went with the cheap one and ended up rounding off the nut anyway, had to call my buddy who's a plumber. He showed up with his old beat up wrench and had it off in 30 seconds. So now I'm wondering if we should actually be looking more at old school advice from people who do this every day instead of randos with a camera. Has anyone else gotten burned trying to follow a YouTube fix and wished you just called someone with real experience?

Honestly same thing happened to me with my car's brake pads. Watched a video from this guy who made it look so easy, just pop them out and slide the new ones in. Took me like 3 hours and I still couldn't get the caliper back on right. Ended up having to take it to my neighbor who's a retired mechanic. He literally laughed at the video I showed him and said the guy skipped the hardest part. Now I only look for tutorials from actual tradespeople or at least people who show the whole messy reality, not just the highlight reel.
