TIL I was mounting my monitor arm wrong for a year

I had my monitor arm clamped to the back edge of my desk for like 12 months. A buddy came over and pointed out I should mount it through the cable grommet hole instead. He said it would give me way more reach and hide the ugly clamp base. So I moved it last week and honestly the cable routing is way cleaner now. Has anyone else had a random visitor spot a better setup hack for your desk?

The glass desk thing is a whole different level of risk. @felix_thomas73 at least you didn't have to explain to anyone why your monitor was in two pieces on the floor. I keep thinking about trying to mount mine to the wall next, just to see how much cleaner it looks.

I had mine clamped to the side edge of a glass desk for two years before someone told me I was living on borrowed time. Now I've got it through the grommet hole and I'm half tempted to go back just so I can have a proper desk-crashing disaster story to tell at parties. At least your friend showed up before you ended up with a monitor on the floor.
