That one guys desk gave me a scare about monitor weight limits

I was helping a buddy move his setup last month in Denver and he'd clamped his 32 inch gaming monitor to a cheap $25 arm from Amazon. He said 'it's been fine for 6 months' right before the clamp started sliding down the desk edge. Has anyone else caught a close call with a mount that wasn't rated for the actual screen weight?

6 months of 'fine' is just gravity biding its time.

I guess I used to think a mount was a mount and if it held, it held. But seeing that clamp start to slip on his desk changed my mind pretty fast. These cheap arms just don't have the grip or build quality to handle the weight long term.
