Stood in an IKEA aisle for 20 minutes and figured out my cable mess

Last Saturday I was at IKEA in Schaumburg just grabbing a new desk lamp, but I got stuck staring at their cable management bins. I had this whole rats nest behind my desk at home that I kept ignoring for like 6 months. While I was standing there holding a SKÅDIS pegboard, it hit me that I was overcomplicating everything. I always thought I needed expensive raceways or fancy clips, but really I just needed to group my cords by where they go and use simple Velcro straps. Now I got all my monitor, phone charger, and lamp cords running along the desk leg in one bundle held by a $3 pack of straps. Has anyone else had that moment where the simplest solution was sitting right in front of you the whole time?

Read that book about keeping things simple, "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up" and it really changed how I look at clutter. Grouping cords by purpose like you did makes way more sense than trying to hide every single wire. Sometimes the cheap Velcro straps from the hardware aisle work better than all those fancy plastic channels.

Wait, people actually group cords by purpose on purpose?
