My brother roasted my cable management so hard I redid everything

My little brother came over to borrow my drill last month and saw the rat's nest under my desk, he just laughed and said 'did a spider die in there?' I spent the next 5 hours with some cheap velcro straps from Home Depot ($12 for a 50 pack) and a new cable raceway, now it looks clean enough to eat off of. Has anyone else had a family member call them out like that?

Bought a pack of the same velcro straps and it changed my whole setup. The key is to bundle cables in small groups first, then attach those groups to the desk leg with a larger strap. Makes future cable swaps way easier too since you're not untying knots. Your brother did you a favor honestly, sometimes you need someone to point out the obvious before you fix it.

Wait, do people actually use zip ties for cable management still? I swapped to velcro years ago and never looked back. @sean_foster52 is dead on about the small groups thing too. I learned the hard way after having to cut through a bunch of zip ties when I moved my desk. Velcro just makes everything so much easier to adjust later. Honestly once you go velcro you never go back to zip ties or twist ties.
