Finally fixed my cable mess using cheap curtain rods from Home Depot

Last weekend I got sick of looking at the tangle of wires under my desk. Spent about $12 on two tension curtain rods and some zip ties. Ran the rods under the desk, zipped all my power strips and cables to them, and now everything stays up and out of the way. My legs don't bump into anything anymore and it looks way cleaner. Anyone else use random home stuff for cable management?

Fair point, I used solid wood dowels instead and they've held fine for a year.

Gotta push back a little on this one. I tried curtain rods under my desk once and they sagged like crazy after a week with just a few power strips and cables. Maybe it's just me but those tension rods aren't made to hold weight sideways like that, they're meant for vertical pressure between walls. I'd worry about them slipping off and dropping everything on my feet. Idk, I ended up switching to a cheap wire mesh rack from the kitchen section, like one of those cooling racks but bigger, and zip tied everything to that. It's way sturdier and cost about the same. Curtain rods just feel too risky for anything heavier than a few phone chargers.
