Debate: cable raceways on the wall vs. hiding everything under the desk

My buddy Joe in Atlanta swears by routing cables along the baseboard with a painted raceway because it's easier to access, but I think that ruins the clean floating look of a desk against the wall. Which side are you on and what's your experience been?

Wait, did you say the paint never matches right? That was the one thing I kinda liked about raceways, but I've been going back and forth on this for a year. You and your cat just sold me on just shoving everything under the desk and calling it good.

Yeah I mean your buddy Joe has a point about access but honestly I painted some raceways in my last place and they looked like crap after a year. The paint never matched right and every time I needed to add a cable I had to peel the whole thing off. Plus my cat figured out the raceway made a perfect scratching post so that was a whole thing. Under the desk with some Velcro ties is the way to go for me, I just reach under there when I need to swap something out. I tried those cord covers that stick to the wall once too and they fell off after a few months because of humidity. Maybe it's just my luck but I've never had a raceway setup look clean for more than like six months.
