Appreciation post: zip ties vs velcro for cable management

I see so many desk photos where people use those thin black zip ties for everything. They look clean at first but then you need to move a monitor or swap a cable and you have to cut them all off. I switched to reusable velcro straps about 6 months ago after replacing my desk setup. It cost me $8 for a roll at Home Depot. Now I can reroute cables in 2 minutes without hunting for scissors. Does anyone else avoid fixed cable ties for non-permanent setups?

Home Depot sells those rolls? I spent $15 on a 3-pack from Amazon like a chump. Guess who's buying a roll today instead.

Bought a roll from Harbor Freight once thinking I was getting a deal. It lasted about two uses before the plastic cracked. At least if Home Depot's stuff breaks you can go yell at someone in person.
