Bought a $45 hydraulic jack adapter, thought it was a gimmick until my van

Ngl I figured the cup just sat on the floor jack, but it actually locked into the pinch weld and lifted my 2012 Odyssey straight up without bending anything. Used it last week on a rear brake job and it beat the heck out of my old scissor jack setup. Anyone else trust these over ramps for quick work?

Funny thing nobody brings up is the weight rating on those adapters versus the actual pivot point of the floor jack... most cheap ones are rated for 3 tons but the cup puts all that force right on a spot that was never meant to take it. The pinch weld is strong, sure, but only if the adapter spreads the load across the whole flat area. If the cup is machined wrong or slips even a little, you're not just bending metal, you're risking the whole jack dropping sideways. I've seen a guy use one of those on a unibody Subaru and the cup popped off mid-lift, scored the rocker panel something awful and nearly took his hand off when the handle kicked back. That said, the ones that actually lock in with a set screw or a spring clip are a different beast entirely because they take the guesswork out of the alignment.
