Stacking two preamp tubes in series changed my tone completely

I threw a spare 12AX7 into an unused socket on my old 5E3 build, cranked the gain to 7, and the breakup went from fizzy garage noise to this thick, saggy blues tone that surprised me, has anyone else tried cascading stages on a non-master-volume amp?

Tbh it's probably just the extra gain stage pushing the power tubes harder, not some magical tube voodoo. The 5E3's already got that saggy thing going on when you dime it, sounds like you just found another way to get there.
