Spent $80 on vintage military surplus tubes and they sounded flat as a pancake

Picked up a quad of 6V6GTs from a guy at a ham radio flea market in Dayton last spring. Figured old stock would be gold but two of them microphonic right out the gate and the other two just couldn't hang with my build. Anyone else get burned chasing that NOS tube dream or did I just pick the wrong batch?

Did you test them before buying or just trust the guy? Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you get a $80 lesson.

Yelled at mine for being quiet before realizing I'd forgotten to plug the speakers in.
