Hit 100 tube amp builds and realized I've been overbiasing by 20% this whole time

I was going through my old build logs last night... adding up all the amps I've finished since I started in 2017. 102 total. I started checking my bias readings from early on and noticed my numbers were way higher than what the datasheets call for. Pulled out my meter on my latest build and sure enough, I've been running those 6L6GCs about 20mA too hot for years. No wonder I've been burning through output tubes faster than I thought. Has anyone else found a hidden mistake like that after hitting some milestone number?

20mA too hot for years" - man that's not a hidden mistake, that's a full on tube holocaust you've been running. At least now you know why all your builds have that "aggressive breakup" tone that you probably thought was your signature sound. Silver lining: you've probably single-handedly kept the 6L6GC market afloat.

Damn man, that's rough. We all learn the hard way sometimes, right?
