Unpopular take: Saying "no" to most analytics tools simplified my workflow more than any dashboard ever did

I used to track every metric under the sun with Google Analytics 4 and three other platforms, but after spending 12 hours in January trying to reconcile conflicting data, I dropped down to just server-side logs and one simple tracker. Has anyone else found that cutting tools actually gives you better strategic insight?

My GA4 gave me 47% bounce rate while my server logs said 82%. That's when I realized I was tracking vanity numbers, not reality. Cut out all the fancy tools and now I just watch raw traffic patterns and conversion flow. The noise was hiding the signal. Less data but way more useful data. Sometimes ignorance really is bliss when it comes to metrics.

Oh wow, I have to disagree pretty strongly here! I get that GA4 can be frustrating with its weird data gaps, but raw server logs are just as misleading on their own. Bots, crawlers, and pre-fetch requests can inflate those server numbers like crazy. I've seen sites where server bounce rate was 90% but actual user behavior told a totally different story once you filtered out the noise. Strip away too much data and you might be making moves based on a different kind of fantasy.
