Talked to a junior dev about SEO meta descriptions and it shifted my whole approach

I was helping a new guy at work last week and he asked why I always write meta descriptions like product specs instead of like a person. He showed me his version that basically told a tiny story in 160 characters, and I had to admit his click-through rates were way better than mine. Has anyone else had a junior person make them rethink a habit they thought was solid?

Huh, guess that's what happens when you stop trying to sound like a robot.

You know what, you're totally right. I used to think that sounding a bit polished made you sound smarter or more credible online. But lately I've been reading some posts where people just write like they talk and it's SO much easier to connect with them. This one thread actually changed my whole view on it. Now I just type what I'm thinking and it feels way more REAL.
