Remember when a bad Facebook ad cost me $2k in a week
I was running a campaign for a local bakery in Austin and forgot to exclude mobile games from the placements. The ad spent the whole budget showing to people playing Candy Crush, with zero conversions. I had to pause everything, rebuild the audience from scratch, and focus on foodie groups instead. Has anyone else had a placement targeting fail that bad?

That $2k loss is rough, but I need to point out that Candy Crush itself isn't a placement you can exclude. The issue was probably targeting the "Audience Network" as a whole, which puts ads inside apps and mobile games. You have to uncheck that box when you set up the ad. Just excluding mobile games as a category is often not enough. I've seen this burn so many people because that network is turned on by default. You really have to manually review each placement section.

Disagree completely, @anthony_fox90. The audience network can actually work great if you just set a low budget and test it.
