Noticed a weird pattern with QR codes at a food market in Austin

I was at the East Austin Food Market last Saturday, and something caught my eye. Every single vendor had a QR code at their booth, but half of them just took you to their Instagram page instead of a menu or ordering system. It felt like they just put it there because everyone said to do it, without thinking about what people actually need. A few booths had a proper link to an online menu, and those lines moved way faster. Made me wonder if QR codes are getting overused just because they're trendy, not because they're actually useful. Has anyone else seen this kind of thing happen with digital strategy in real spaces? Any tips on how to test if a QR code is actually helping or just wasting space?

Did those stalls with the Instagram links actually get more followers out of it, or were people just annoyed and walking away?

Can't believe half of them just link to IG instead of an actual menu, that's so useless.
