Just saw a local shop run the same ad for 8 months straight

They never changed the creative or the offer. I tracked their ad spend on Facebook's Ad Library, about $500 a month. After 3 months, the click cost went up 40%. People just tune out. I told them to swap the image and text every 4 weeks. Now they get more clicks for less money. Anyone else track ad fatigue like this?

Honestly I have to disagree here. Sometimes an ad that keeps working is a sign it's just really good. I ran one for almost a year because it kept bringing in steady sales without any changes. The cost per click went up a bit, but the sales it made stayed strong, so the profit was still there. Changing things every month can actually mess up what's already working. You have to look at the full picture, not just the click cost.
