Just realized my SEO strategy was missing a key step after a chat with a local bakery owner

I was grabbing a pastry last weekend and the owner mentioned she gets way more customers from Google Maps searches than her blog. She said she never bothered with local SEO because she thought it was just for big chains. Made me think about how many small businesses I work with are probably ignoring the basics like Google Business Profile. I spent 2 hours last night updating listings for three clients and saw a bump in calls within 48 hours. Has anyone else found that local optimizations beat content marketing for brick and mortar type businesses?

My friend runs a coffee shop and spent months writing blog posts nobody read. Her cousin showed her how to put the shop on Google Maps and reply to reviews, her walk-in traffic doubled in two weeks. She still jokes about the wasted time on that blog.

My coffee shop client saw 30% more foot traffic in a week just from updating their GBP, exactly what @paige870 said.
