Can we talk about SEO agencies that promise first page results in 30 days?

I was at a conference in Chicago last fall and this agency owner was bragging about how he guarantees top 3 rankings in a month. I called him out on it and he got defensive. Fast forward to last week, I ran into a client of his who said they got banned from Google after using his methods. Turns out he was doing PBNs and spammy link schemes. I was skeptical of the whole SEO industry for years because of people like that, but then a small shop in Austin showed me their process over 6 months. Legit content, technical fixes, and real outreach. They moved the needle slowly but it stuck. Has anyone else seen these quick fix shops burn clients?

Used to be pretty skeptical of anyone claiming they could move rankings fast... but you're right, there's a huge difference between real work and quick tricks. Saw a friend's site get wrecked by one of those agencies last year, totally changed my mind on the whole process.
