Wasted $300 on a co-working membership in Bali last year that I used maybe four times total.

The space looked great in photos but the internet was spotty and the coffee was terrible, so I just ended up working from my villa's patio anyway - has anyone else fallen for a fancy workspace that wasn't worth the money?

Oh man, that's a bummer for real. I mean, it's wild how much those Bali co-working spots hype themselves up online but then the WiFi can't even handle a Zoom call. Did you actually get a chance to try out any of their "networking events" or was it basically just a pricey place to sit and stare at a slow loading screen? Like, was there at least one thing that almost made it worth it, or was it a total wash from day one?

Oh wow yeah @jade221, I think the real hidden problem there is that everyone's secretly using the same backup Starlink from the other coworking space down the street, so the whole block has this tangled web of spotty connections. I heard from a buddy who stayed at one of those places that the actual bottleneck is the island's single undersea cable getting throttled, not the WiFi itself. So even if the place has decent routers, you're still fighting the whole island's internet for that one cable.
