Met a guy in a Chiang Mai coworking space who swore coworking kills productivity

He used to bounce around cafes and coworking spots for six months, then he locked himself in a rented room for a month and finished his whole project. I told him being around other people working keeps me focused. Which side are you on, do you feed off the buzz or do you need total isolation to get things done?

Three weeks in a Chiang Mai guesthouse with no AC and I finished a whole coding project I'd been dragging on for like five months. There's something about having nowhere to go and nothing to distract you that just FORCES the work out. Maybe coworking works for some people but I need that feeling of being trapped in a tiny room with my task.

That "feeling of being trapped in a tiny room with my task" is exactly what I need but also what I run from. I once locked myself in my apartment to finish a thing and ended up deep cleaning the fridge instead, so apparently my brain prefers trapped-with-a-task to actual work. Maybe I need a room with no distractions and no cleaning supplies.
