Just ran the numbers on my coffee shop habit in Chiang Mai

I've been working from cafes here for about 3 months now... and I finally added up what I spend on iced lattes and pastries every day. It came out to $380 last month alone. That's more than my coworking space membership. I found the total by looking at my bank app yesterday morning and about choked on my coffee. Has anyone else tracked this kind of thing and switched to a different setup?

$380 on coffee and pastries is literally nothing if you're getting work done. You're paying for a desk with wifi, electricity, and AC plus unlimited refills in a city where rent is already cheap. A coworking space membership is just a chair and a table. You can't show up to your coworking space at 7am and get a hot latte handed to you while you write emails. Sounds like you're getting a solid return on investment if you're actually productive there. Plus you're supporting local businesses instead of some soulless chain coworking spot. If you're really that worried about it, just order a regular coffee instead of the fancy latte and skip the pastry lol. But honestly $380 is probably less than what most people blow on random subscriptions and delivery fees every month without thinking twice.

But is it really that simple? $380 on coffee and pastries adds up QUICK when you think about how much actual food and groceries you could buy for that. I get that you're paying for the space and convenience, but let's be real - a latte and a croissant at a local shop is like $10-$12 easy. Do that every workday for a month and you're at $240-$288 just on two items. The rest is probably snacks or a second drink. It's not about being cheap, it's about the HABIT of spending without tracking it. That money could cover a utility bill or a few tanks of gas. Just saying, it might be worth checking the numbers once in a while.
