Digital nomad life in Bali nearly wrecked my sleep for 2 months straight

I moved to Canggu thinking coworking spaces and beach sunsets would be paradise. Instead, I spent 8 weeks dealing with construction noise starting at 7am every single day, even Sundays. My Airbnb listing said quiet neighborhood but there were three building sites within earshot. I tried noise canceling headphones, earplugs, even moved to two different villas and it was the same story. Lesson learned that remote work hotspots aren't always setup for actual work. Anyone else deal with constant noise in a popular nomad city and find a real solution?

Bought myself a good set of industrial earplugs and a white noise machine after two weeks of that nonsense. That plus a loud fan running 24/7 finally let me sleep through the worst of it. Had to accept that some places just aren't quiet, no matter what the listing promises.

@thomas_young I feel like you reached the final boss level of noise management with the industrial earplugs. My neighbor got a dog that barked every time the wind blew, so I tried stacking two different white noise apps on my phone plus a box fan. It was like a weird symphony of static but it actually worked. The key for me was realizing you have to combine multiple layers of noise, not just one thing. Your setup sounds like it would double as a solid hurricane shelter too, which is kind of a bonus.
