That "everything I already knew" part hurts the most.

The worst part is when you realize your gut was screaming at you the whole time but you convinced yourself you were just being paranoid. My sister went through this with her ex for 8 months before she finally admitted she knew he was cheating since month two. It takes a lot of strength to look back and see those red flags you ignored. You're not alone in that feeling, it's almost like grieving the time you wasted. Have you been able to trust your instincts more since that relationship ended?

Is it really that serious though? I mean yeah it sucks when you look back and see you ignored stuff, but calling it "grieving" feels a bit dramatic. @olivia_chen35 I get what you're saying about your sister, but sometimes our gut is just being dramatic too, like when I thought my roommate was hiding food from me but really he was just eating weird hours. People make mistakes and move on, you know? The whole "trust your instincts" thing gets played up too much when really half the time your gut is just wrong.
