Paid $500 for a viral course, got more from a free Facebook group
Last March I dropped $500 on a guru's email marketing course because every ad said it was the secret sauce. Two modules in, it was just basic stuff I already knew from my two years running social ads in Cleveland. Meanwhile, a free group I joined for local small business owners kept posting real A/B test results, like a bakery in Parma that doubled their open rate just by changing subject line timing. That group's screenshots and honest breakdowns taught me more in a week than the fancy videos did in a month. Has anyone else found that free communities beat paid courses, or did I just pick a dud?
Man, that sucks but also kinda great at the same time? Dropping 500 bucks to learn stuff you already knew from running ads has to sting, but at least you found that free group doing real work. That bakery example in Parma is exactly the kind of thing I mean, actual numbers from real tests beat some polished video script any day. Gurus sell the dream, but the people grinding it out in groups just share what worked. You didn't pick a dud, that's just how most of these paid courses go.
