My TikTok ad went viral for the wrong reason last Thursday
I spent $200 on a simple ad for a new coffee mug, but the comments blew up about the song I used. People hated it so much they made memes. The ad got 500k views but only 12 sales. Has anyone else had an ad get big for something you didn't plan?

Sounds like the song did the heavy lifting, not the mug.

So what's the mug even for then?

Honestly the real problem is you got 500k views but no one remembers the mug. That's a branding fail. The memes are about the song, not your product. I saw a car ad once where people only talked about the weird background actor. Company got tons of views but their brand message got completely lost. You need the viral thing to actually connect to what you're selling.
