My email list sign-up form just stopped working after a site update
Happened yesterday when we pushed a new plugin for the blog. The form shows up fine, but the confirmation emails never send (checked the logs, zero activity). Anyone know a good way to test this stuff before it goes live?

Our staging site caught a similar plugin conflict last month.

Oh wait, small thing - staging sites are great and all but they don't always catch email delivery issues. They can test if the form submits and logs work, but real SMTP problems or API timeouts only show up on the live server. Different environment, different configs. You might be fine just testing with a throwaway email address on your live site first. Keep that staging site though, it's still good for catching obvious plugin conflicts before they hit your real list.

That "staging site caught a similar plugin conflict" thing is SO real. It's like when you change one light switch in your house and suddenly the garage door opener stops working. You can't see the connection, but it's there. Modern stuff is just wired together in weird ways. A tiny update on your phone can break your smart thermostat. We build these complex systems and then act surprised when they tangle up.
