Woke up to a Google algorithm update and my traffic dropped 40% overnight

Logged in Monday morning and saw my organic traffic from last week just tanked. I run a small ecommerce site selling vintage camera gear, been grinding on SEO for 8 months. Talked to a buddy who does PPC and he said "told you not to put all your eggs in organic." Now I'm scrambling to figure out what changed. Anyone else get hit by the March core update and find a fix that actually worked?

Told you not to put all your eggs in organic" really hit me because I learned that the hard way too. When my site got slammed by an update last year, I started focusing hard on fixing actual content quality issues instead of just chasing keywords. I went through all my product pages and rewrote the thin ones with real detail about the gear, not just specs. Also cleaned up a bunch of old blog posts that were just fluff. Took about 3 weeks but traffic slowly came back to around 70% of where it was.

Same here. I used to think content quality was just keyword stuffing until I got slapped.
