When my tiny niche blog hit 50k visits in one month I thought the analytics were broken

I was just writing about obscure vintage hand tools for a hobby and suddenly a link from some random forum sent 50k people my way in 30 days, has anyone else had a random spike like that completely come out of nowhere?

Nah, I call bull on that being totally random. You don't just get 50k hits from nowhere unless someone with a big platform linked you. That's not a happy accident, that's basically winning the lottery without buying a ticket. I've run a couple small blogs myself and the only time I saw a spike was after I paid for a shoutout. Real traffic comes from consistent effort not a lucky forum link. Don't buy into the fairy tale that success just falls in your lap.
