Spent $500 on Google Ads for my local bakery and got zero sales

Everyone says Google Ads are the best for local businesses but I ran a campaign for 4 weeks targeting "birthday cakes near me" and got 3 clicks total. My $500 would've done more good just handing out free samples at the farmers market. Has anyone else had a total dud with Google Ads for a small shop?

Yeah and the farmers market samples probably would've brought in way more word of mouth traffic too.

Tasting a product in person hits different than just seeing a sign or a price tag. That hands-on experience sticks with people way longer than any ad ever will.
