My sister told me my landing page copy sounded like a robot, and she was right.

What makes copy sound robotic anyway? It's usually using too many formal words or not having any personality... like you're reading a manual. Try reading it out loud and see if it sounds like something you'd actually say.

You mentioned reading it out loud. What about when you get to those long, clunky phrases? Like "in order to" instead of just "to," or "at this point in time" instead of "now." I always trip over those when I'm reading my own stuff. It feels like you're trying to fill space with air. Do you cut those out first, or look for something else?

Totally feel that. My old boss made me rewrite all our store signs because they sounded like a legal document. Stuff like "please proceed to the checkout area" instead of just "check out over here." Reading it out loud is the best trick, you catch all the weird filler words that nobody actually says.
