Found a weird hack for local SEO that boosted my client's calls by 40% in a week

I was stuck trying to get a pizza place in Austin to show up for 'late night slices' and nothing was working. Accidentally noticed their Google Business listing still had the old phone number from three years ago. Fixed that and added 'open after 10pm' to a few more service areas in the description. By Friday their call volume jumped like crazy. Anybody else stumble into a fix that seemed too simple?

That 40% jump probably had more to do with the phone number fix than you think. I've seen Google penalize listings with mismatched NAP info for months, and correcting it can trigger a sudden visibility boost. Adding those service areas definitely helped too, but the phone number thing is a bigger deal than people realize especially when you've got a stale listing. Three years with the wrong number is basically telling Google your business info is unreliable. I'd bet the combo of both changes worked together more than either one alone.

Just a heads up, phone number changes usually take up to a week to really hit the search results. The call jump was more likely from adding those extra service areas.
