Uploaded a timelapse at 4K and the gallery compressed it to mush

I spent 6 hours rendering my latest piece and posted it to the showcase thread expecting the detail to pop. The site auto-scaled it down to 1080p and suddenly all my fine brush strokes turned into blurry noise. Same thing happened to a friend's piece last month with their 6000px wide canvas. Now I export a separate web version at 75% quality before uploading, and it looks way closer to what I intended. Has anyone else had their work mangled by the platform's compression settings?
