TIL those $50 art tablet screen protectors are a total scam
I bought a matte screen protector for my drawing tablet off Amazon for $48. After 3 months it was scratched up and had this weird rainbow oil slick look on the surface. I peeled it off and my screen was fine underneath, now I just draw on the bare glass. Anyone else ditch those expensive protectors and just raw dog the screen?

Ditched mine after the first month, honestly felt like I was drawing on sandpaper the whole time. Ended up just using a cheap $5 phone screen protector I cut down to size with scissors, works fine and no rainbow mess. Bare glass feels way better for the pen nib, too.

Riverp37 I gotta say your experience is almost the opposite of mine. A cheap phone protector cut down with scissors is going to leave edges that collect dust and peel up eventually. The matte screen protectors made for the actual device usually have that etched finish on purpose to give the pen some resistance like paper. Bare glass feels way too slick for any kind of controlled drawing in my experience, the nib just skids around. That sandpaper feel you hated is exactly what I need to keep my lines from looking like a toddler drew them. Different strokes for different folks I guess but I'll take the tooth over the slip any day.
