Spent $80 on a cheap drawing tablet and it nearly made me quit digital art

Bought this no-name brand tablet off Amazon last month and the pen tracking was so laggy I thought I just sucked at drawing. Anybody else had a garbage tablet ruin their motivation before they bit the bullet on something decent?

Started messing with the settings and drivers at all? Sometimes those cheap tablets have awful default pressure curves that make every line feel like dragging a brick through mud. Which model was it, because I almost grabbed one of those $60 Huion knockoffs but held off.

Honestly, I ended up messing with the driver settings for three hours before I realized the tablet was just mad at me for not buying a Wacom. Ngl, it felt like I was trying to get a stubborn cat to cooperate. Got the pressure curve to a tolerable level, but every time I lift the pen it still hates me.
