People keep saying you need a fancy Wacom for digital painting but my old Huion tablet still works fine

I kept seeing everyone online claim you absolutely need a Cintiq or you're wasting your time. But after 2 years with this $80 Huion H610 Pro V2 I grabbed off Facebook Marketplace, my art actually improved. I lowered the pressure sensitivity down to medium and adjusted the mapping to match my screen size directly. Has anyone else gotten good results from a cheap tablet by tweaking the driver settings?

I used to be one of those people who thought you had to drop big money on a tablet to make decent art. But honestly seeing your results with that Huion is making me reconsider. Maybe the expensive gear is just a crutch and it's more about figuring out your settings.

Figure out what screen size actually works for your hand movements, not just what looks good on paper. I switched from a 13 inch to a 10 inch and my line quality got way better because I wasn't stretching my arm across the desk like a contortionist. The pen nib material matters too, plastic on glass feels completely different from felt tips or textured screens. Nobody talks about how the angle you hold the pen changes your brush strokes in digital art. Play with that stuff before chasing bigger price tags.
