Passed 1000 followers on my art IG and it wasnt what I expected

I hit 1000 followers on my art Instagram yesterday and honestly it felt kind of weird. I had been posting my digital paintings for about 8 months and really grinding with daily posts and stories. The number itself felt big when I saw it pop up but then I realized only like 30 people actually comment or like anything. Most of the followers came from a couple of my art posts that got shared in some bigger hashtags. It made me wonder if I should focus more on building a smaller real community instead of just chasing the follower count. Has anyone else felt this way after hitting a milestone on social media?

Nah, numbers are what matter if you want to actually make money doing this.

Focus on the 30 who engage. They are your real audience. Try posting to your Stories asking a direct question like "what kind of art do you want to see next?" and reply to every comment you get for a week. That small group will stick with you way longer than the random followers from hashtags.
