My art got mistaken for a real object at the Portland gallery show
Someone tried to pick up my hyperrealistic digital painting of a coffee mug, and now I always add a tiny, impossible shadow to every piece. Does that ever happen to you guys with your renders?

Saw a video where a guy made a 3D render of a pair of glasses on a table. People in the comments were fighting about if it was real or not for days. Your shadow trick is smart, honestly. I try to put something slightly off in my backgrounds now, like a clock with too many numbers. Makes it look more like art and less like a photo.

Disagree, I love when people get fooled. That's the whole point for me.

Been there myself, @richardfox. I once uploaded a photo of my coffee mug and watched people debate if it was a painting for like a week. Kinda feels like winning a prank war against the whole internet, even if the joke is on yourself half the time.
