Just found out a huge chunk of digital art gets lost every year
I was reading an article on the Digital Preservation Coalition's site last night. They said around 10% of all digital art files become unreadable or corrupted within just five years if you don't migrate them to new formats. I had a whole folder of my old PSDs from 2018 that I couldn't open last month, and now I know why. Has anyone else had this happen and found a good way to back everything up for the long term?

Man, that's rough... my old band's demo tracks from high school got corrupted on a hard drive. Felt like losing a piece of yourself.

Ugh that's terrifying. What kind of backup system are you using now, just cloud stuff or something more hardcore?

Have you heard of the 3-2-1 backup rule? I read about it after a scare last year, where you keep three copies on two different types of media with one off-site. It sounds like overkill until you need it.
