I finally picked a textured brush pack over a smooth one for my character portraits.
I chose the $15 'Rusty Nib' set from Gumroad and after 3 weeks of using it, the added grit has made my fantasy illustrations feel way more alive and less plastic, so what's your favorite brush set for adding texture?

Used to be all about those clean brushes, but a grungy charcoal pack totally changed how I do my line work.

Right? A good grungy brush just adds so much life. I was stuck on clean lines for way too long.

Watched my friend Jenna spend two days trying to force a smooth round brush to work for her goblin skin textures and she was about to throw her tablet out the window. She finally grabbed a free gritty chalk brush off some random DeviantArt pack and suddenly her goblins looked like they had actual scales and dirt instead of shiny plastic. She still uses that same brush three years later and swears by it.
