Found out digital art files from 2004 are basically unreadable now
I was digging through an old external hard drive last weekend and found some of my first digital paintings saved as .psd files from Photoshop 7. Opened them up in the current version and half the layers were corrupted or the color profiles were completely busted. Anyone else run into this with their old work?

@sandra715 yeah I saw that Library of Congress thing too. But honestly I think people are overreacting a LITTLE here. PSD files from 2004? Those are actually pretty easy to fix if you know what you're doing. I've got stuff from Photoshop 5 that still opens fine. The REAL problem is all those weird proprietary raw formats people used back then like .kdc or .crw from cameras nobody even remembers. Also if you saved your PSDs with "Maximize Compatibility" turned off like I always did, yeah that causes issues but that's on you not Adobe.

Didn't I just read something from the Library of Congress about this? They've been trying to figure out how to save old digital files before they all become unreadable, and it's way harder than anyone expected. I guess it's a real problem when even Photoshop can't handle its own old formats properly.
