Shoutout to the $75 I wasted on a "mystery box" from a dead mall kiosk
Two years ago I paid $75 for a sealed mystery box at a dying mall in Dayton because the guy swore it was loaded with retro store stock. I got home and opened it to find 40 rusty keychains, a broken cordless phone, and one sad Garfield mug. Has anyone else blown cash on one of these mall clearance stunts, and what was the weirdest thing you pulled out?
The "loaded with retro store stock" line is exactly what got me too, except my guy claimed his box had NES games in it. I paid $60 and got three phone chargers for phones that don't exist anymore, a VHS of a workout tape, and a lava lamp with no bulb. The lava lamp actually still sits on my desk because I feel bad throwing away $60 worth of junk. My best find was a cassette single of a band nobody has ever heard of, which I now use as a coaster.
